Russian Missionaries

On September 27, 2005 the first Russian Wesleyan missionaries headed to the Ukraine to work with World Hope Canada in the city of Kiev. Denis and Tonya graduated from Christian Evangelical Wesleyan College in Vladimir in May of 2003. They have both been involved in the church in various ministries including leading a home group, worship band, and working with youth.

Denis & TonyaDenis and Tonya, along with daughter Lada, accepted the call to work in Ukraine as missionaries.  They will be working alongside World Hope Canada. One of their main ministries will be working with homeless children and teenagers - sharing the gospel and providing for their practical needs.

Current Prayer Requests for Denis and Tonya:

  • Health for their family - themselves and their extended family
  • Protection as they interact with the kids on the street.
  • Their ministry there:
    • Safety as they work with the kids and in dangerous situations.
    • The kids they will be working with.
    • Co-workers - both Ukrainian and Canadian.
    • God would show them how be involved in the ministry there.
  • Their relatives in Vladimir (parents, sister, brother-in-law, etc) - most are not believers - that God would use this to draw them to himself.

KatyaKatya also feels a call to missions. Katya works as our language teacher and as an interpreter.  She leads a home group and is also the home group coordinator for the Tokareva church. This semester Katya is also teaching at Christian Evangelical Wesleyan College.

God has laid Germany on Katya's heart. He has continued to renew this call in her life over the years. She hopes to leave for Germany early next year. This is a huge step of faith for her and the church. In order for Katya to live in Germany she needs to find a job there. Jobs there are very hard to find, especially from Russia. We are trusting God that he will provide one for her. There have been several setbacks in this process recently but we know God will provide what she needs.

Please pray for Katya as she continues to trust God to open the doors for her. Please also pray for her as she works through leaving her family and friends to serve in Germany.

NastyaNastya has felt called into missions for years. Nastya graduated from our Bible College in June of 2005. Currently she is serving as the Youth Director of the Tokareva Church.

Nastya will be going to join a team ministering to the Nune People.  This will be a new connection for the Russian Church and we are excited to see how God will use it in the future.

Please pray for Nastya as the details are being worked out for her to go. Please pray for the rest of the team that she will be joining. The date for the team's arrival has changed due to some travel issues. Pray that God will work out all the details necessary for the team that will be ministering to the Nune People. Please pray for Nastya's family as they work through the idea of her going.

Please pray for Nastya as she seeks God's guidance on what steps she can be taking now and as she seeks out a language teacher to begin learning the language of the Nune People.
